How to Care Your Hair Closure

canva design

Every woman wants a natural look, long hair hanging loosely or freely is a great way to have the most natural look to your extensions. But if your hair doesn't match your hair extensions, a closure piece will be the best solution. A hair closure is your best friend when it comes to having that instant hairstyle. It gives you a glamorous factor for any occasion and leaves a good first impression for your partner in the first meeting.

Straight hair with closure
Women may be a bit worried that hair weave will make them look so unnatural. However, you can choose Brazilian hair bundles with closure, it is as natural and beautiful as your natural hair, it has a soft and smooth texture which can blend with your hair well. Seek the advice of a hairstylist to get the best hair color and care for your look.

Hair closures need tender loving care just like your natural hair. Whether they're silk or lace hair closure types. It is necessary for your hair closure to prevent it from shading. Shading occurs when a spot on your closure loses it's hair strands. So treat your hair closure with extra care using the following tips and never worry another bad hair day again.

Treat Your Hair Closure Like a Baby
Don't do anything rash with your closure such as tugging, scratching, or rough handling. These are the primary causes of balding which will do more harm than good.

Brushing or Combing
Brushing your hair closure with a wide-tooth comb softly. Brush the hair gently from the ends as you work your way up to the root. Hold the hair at the root while combing to avoid shading.
Do not use heavy hair products directly on the closure as this could damage the piece itself. Avoid using too many gels, lotions, oils, or mousse since this can cause tangles and damage. To add moisture and keep it soft, apply a little amount of light moisturizing hair serum instead so that you can easily form your curls or waves. Extra care should be taken if you use rollers, flat iron, curling, or crimping devices.

Store Your Closure Piece Properly
One of the main reasons why a hair closure piece would get damaged is when it is exposed to the elements or rubbed with other objects. Store your closure in a clean box without any other stuff in it or hang it properly inside a cabinet. Store it in a way that rubbing with other objects could be avoided.

Four Ways to Keep Your Food Safe

canva design

There is an old English saying "Food cooked with passion and served with love tastes divine." Trust me, it is true even today! Every food enthusiast (like you and me) is well aware that the soul of any good recipe resides in the right blend of spices and fresh natural ingredients. But we might sometimes miss upon an even more important ingredient while cooking food, and which more often than not tampers with the soul of our recipe. Yes, I am talking about food safety & hygiene. One has to be very careful while handling food and maintain the highest level of hygiene and food safety in our kitchen and home.

Food contamination can occur at any stage, be it harvesting, processing, preparation, storage or transportation. Foodborne diseases are often common where low standards of hygiene are used. According to data released by the World Health Organization, every year foodborne disease causes almost one in ten people to fall ill. These diseases can be deadly especially in children.

There are a few basic rules to be followed while handling food:

Clean: Wash hands and surfaces often.
Separate: Don't cross-contaminate.
Cook: Cook to the right temperature.
Chill: Refrigerate promptly.

Clean: Wash hands and surfaces often.

One must wash one's hands thoroughly with soap before coming in contact with food. This eliminates the transfer of germs from your hands to the food. One must wash all vegetables and fruits with cold water before using them. Kitchen counters and surfaces are the key places which if dirty can contaminate food. These places must be sanitized thoroughly along with equipment used for preparing food.

In case you are sick or down with cold and flu you must avoid cooking and handling food. When someone has the symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting or jaundice, they should stay away from the workplace. And if they have a sore throat and fever, they should be restricted from preparing and serving food. This is alarming because these people potentially could have spread the disease to the people who consume the foods their establishments were serving. Martin Bucknavage, extension food-safety specialist says, "Foodborne pathogens such as Norovirus, Hepatitis A and Shigella often are spread by sick workers to restaurant patrons through the food." These recommendations are not just for food service or retail food establishments but also for people who cook for their families and those who work in child care or elder-care facilities. The use of hand sanitizers and tissue paper should be encouraged in all age groups.

Separate: Don't cross-contaminate.

To avoid cross-contamination keep raw and cooked foods separate when storing and preparing. Food should be stored in covered containers in the fridge and put raw meats and poultry in the bottom of the fridge so the juices don't contaminate food on lower shelves. Don't put cooked meat back on the plate the raw meat was on.

Cook: Cook to the right temperature.

If you eat poultry, seafood, and meat you must be careful while cooking them. They should be cooked thoroughly at the right temperatures before eating. In order to confirm, insert a skewer in the center of the meat and check that there is no pink meat. The juices must run clear. Those are the signs of well-cooked meat. In case raw meat is consumed it can lead to food poisoning.

In the past few years, microwaves are being used in our kitchens to cook and reheat food. You can cover your food with food wrapping paper of a good quality, which prevents the food from drying out on reheating. Make sure the reheated food is piping hot and the steam is coming out of it. This means you have eliminated the risk of bacteria and other pathogens.

Chill: Refrigerate promptly.

If you are to store your raw food in the fridge, wrap it with a food wrapping paper which can absorb the moisture and prevents the dripping of juices and keep it at a temperature lower than 5 degree Celsius. You can help keep your family safe from food poisoning at home. Cold temperatures slow the growth of illness-causing bacteria. So it's important to chill food promptly and properly. Refrigerate perishable foods within two hours.
Healthy and hygienic food habits can avert a lot of foodborne diseases. These habits should be inculcated in your daily lifestyle and should be taught to kids as well. It's the small steps that go a long way and make a big difference in your holistic well being.

Keeping a healthy smile all year round: Get into the habit of proper dental Hygiene

As we kick off a brand-new year, we start to list down resolutions to jumpstart good habits that we wish to form and continue for the rest of the year. They say it only takes 2 weeks to create a habit, so why not start off with the easiest resolution to keep: the habit of proper dental hygiene?

Building on the habit of good dental hygiene only takes a few minutes per day, but somehow, this doesn’t get the attention and commitment it deserves. To mindfully get into this habit, every household should begin by understanding our natural eating habits, as most of the food and drinks that we consume daily are generally either acidic or pigmented.

Think of oranges, coffee, pasta, ketchup, wine, and so on. Acid in food and drinks softens the tooth enamel or the outer layer of the tooth. Weakened tooth enamel may lead to dental erosion that makes our teeth prone to sensitivity. More so, acid also promotes bacterial growth, which causes problems ranging from bleeding gums to gingivitis. So, what can we do about it?

The latest innovation from Oral-B has 2-in-1 oral care action that directly repairs and protects sore gums and weakened enamel. The NEW Oral-B Gum & Enamel Repair Toothpaste is clinically proven to protect gums and strengthen the enamel in 2 weeks. Oral-B's Gum and Enamel Repair toothpaste has unique ActivRepair™ technology, clinically proven to neutralize bacteria on the gum line, and even keep it away afterward, too. It also repairs the damage caused to your tooth enamel by everyday wear and tear and continues to protect it afterward. Not only that, but it also helps do all this in just two weeks. Unlike common fluoride toothpaste, Oral-B Gum and Enamel Repair is made with Stabilized Stannous Fluoride Complex. Oral-B pioneered the introduction of Stannous Fluoride in its toothpaste in the 1950s, and with over decades of research, their technology has evolved to now deliver multiple dental care benefits, such as sensitivity repair, elimination of bad breath, cavity protection, enamel erosion protection, neutralization of plaque regrowth, and gum rejuvenation.

That’s because these days, just having long-lasting fresh breath isn’t enough. Your toothpaste must be hardworking enough to target the root causes of oral care problems, such as bacteria and acid erosion. As it is difficult to prevent ourselves from eating food high in acidity, Oral-B delivers the oral protection that we need so our gums remain healthy and our teeth stay strong as we continue to enjoy our day-to-day grind. Building on the habit of good dental hygiene Dental experts recommend brushing your teeth three times a day or after every meal and visiting a professional for dental cleaning at least twice a year.

At home, the right way to brush your teeth and gums is for two minutes long in a soft and circular motion. It’s also important to choose a toothbrush that can do more than just brushing. Unlike regular toothbrushes in the market, Oral-B’s toothbrushes are made with crisscross bristles that remove 90% more plaque even in hard-to-reach areas. With the rise in the popularity of detoxifying properties of charcoal in the health and beauty industries,

Oral-B has harnessed its power and learned to infuse it in their Charcoal White toothbrush to help whiten your teeth in just two weeks! Aside from brushing your teeth and gums, dental floss is also an essential dental care step to remove plaque from tight spaces between teeth and gums. This prevents both bacteria and plaque buildup from forming, which can potentially lead to cavities, sensitive teeth, and gum disease.

Oral-B Glide Floss is lightly coated with natural wax that makes it strong, smoothly gliding, and is perfect for people with sensitive gums. It is also made from a single filament, which means it never shreds, and leaves you with a cool and clean feeling afterward. Remember, it only takes two weeks to build a habit. So, practice early and practice right and make sure to teach everyone in the family the value of having healthy teeth and gums!
